We've heard calls to renovate and rehabilitate the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 especially after a website declared it as the worst airport in the world. We've learned during the past week that the past administration actually commissioned a plan to rehabilitate NAIA 1 as early as 2004 but it seems the plan was not used (Anyone from our government investigating this?). And there was a suggestion to transfer the airport to the Clark Economic Zone in Pampanga. (Seriously?)
Well, people could complain all they want but nothing will happen if no one takes a step to transform NAIA into a world-class airport. Fortunately, the Kenneth Cobonpue, together with Budji Layug and Royal Pineda, in cooperation with the National Competitiveness Council created this proposal for NAIA 1. Check out their design and tell us what you think. Better yet, share this with more people so we can move our government to action. Isn't it a shame that our airport, named after the incumbent president's late father, doesn't appear as gracious and hospitable as its namesake?

This is a good design. I just hope they also maximize NAIA 3 so that passengers won't be inconvenienced if the rehabilitation of NAIA 1 pushes through.
ReplyDeleteGina, I agree with you on maximizing terminal 3. Still, we should push our government to rehabilitate NAIA 1 asap. :-)
